We have a new addition to the household! A black and white kitten/young cat has joined boxer dog Dylan and black cat Christie as a permanent resident.
Found as a stray by a friend who works on a large estate near us, and after every effort was made to find her owner, we succumbed to the invitation to “just go and see her”. In truth, my friend had known we were thinking about getting another cat – she has three herself and knew we were no longer a multi cat household.
One look and that was it, kit (who is yet to be named!) was on her way home with us.
So far all has been well. Christie just took one look, with ears pointed forward at her and she got the hint and offered total submission. She has not troubled my grand old gentleman one bit as he goes about his business – except that his cat flap is shut. Mind you I have always felt he finds the scramble a little undignified and much prefers to croak for the door to be opened. (Of course, kit is not yet allowed out till she is secure, familiar with us, fully vaccinated – and spayed!)
Dylan – all 40kg of him – he is a big lad – was terrified as he had never heard a cat hiss! To see him dancing away from this little slinky lass was quite amusing. A week or so on and he now ignores her – equilibrium is restored.
